2009 Annual Meeting (147 reads)
The annual meeting of the CCA will be held in the meeting room of the Holiday Inn in Clanton on September 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm.  We will be discussing CCA business as well as setting our fall schedule of work on cemeteries.

You do not have to be a member to attend.

Headstone Cleaning and Repair Workshop (896 reads)
The Chilton Cemetery Association is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a headstone repair and cleaning workshop at the Rocky Mount Cemetery in Chilton County.

The Alabama Cemetery Preservation Alliance will be assisting the CCA on the workday. Charles Thomas, owner of Eagle Eye Masonry in Pinson Alabama, will be onhand demonstrating the correct way to repair and clean headstones.

Everyone is invited and admission is free. This is not just for the residents of Chilton County but for anyone who wants to learn how to correctly take care of old headstones.

Details:

When: June 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
Where: Rocky Mount Cemetery in Jemison Alabama on County Road 51

We suggest you bring a lawn chair.  Restroom facilities will be available across the street from the cemetery at the Rocky Mount Methodist Church.  Our thanks to them for opening their church to us for this need.  There is ample parking at the cemetery, you can also park in the Rocky Mount Methodist Church parking area.

Directions: From I-65 - the 219 Jemison Thorsby exit turn east onto County Road 42 for half a mile. At the four way intersection turn left onto County Road 51 for two miles at which time you'll go back over the interstate. Continue on Co. Rd. 51 for one mile to the Rocky Mount Cemetery on your right.

Chilton Cemetery Association now open for paid memberships (539 reads)

The Chilton Cemetery Association is now official and can accept due-paying memberships. Your membership dues will go towards the ongoing work of restoring and maintaining Chilton County’s cemeteries, registering historic cemeteries with the Alabama Historical Commission and also towards marking and honoring the graves of our veterans.

Membership Dues:

Individual - $15 a year

Family - $25 a year

Business - $50 a year
